Susan Williamson and her daughter, Angie Schumaker, who is a nurse and a certified integrative aromatherapist, started Magnolia's Natural Beauty, LLC in 2004, soon after discovering that Angie's young son had developed eczema. The doctor suggested potent prescription medication, so Angie began researching natural ingredients because she didn't want to put chemicals on him at such a young age. She discovered that sweet almond oil and lavender essential oil were helpful in reducing the signs of eczema as well as signs of premature aging....and a company was born!

Susan and Angie named the company in honor of their Great-grandmother Magnolia Snellgrove (born in 1872), who made many natural and holistic skin care preparations to care for her beautiful skin. These time-honored secrets still inspire them to make their products with only the finest natural, organic botanicals from around the world. As Angie is fond of saying "It takes life to make life." When you put 'dead' ingredients upon your skin, such as those found in petrolatum and mineral oil, all you get is a barrier that sits on your skin's surface rather than soaking into your skin and providing the hydration and moisture we want from the lotions and creams we buy. Beneficial vegetable and nut oils provide vitamins that provide essential nutrients for the skin, and essential oils offer aromatherapeutic benefits that cannot be duplicated in a laboratory.

Become an informed consumer!

Read ingredient labels carefully and learn what they mean. Know what you are putting on your skin and, therefore, into your body. Many synthetic chemicals may be considered harmful and are best left on the shelf. Too often these days, the word 'natural' plastered on a label doesn't mean anything. There might be one or two natural ingredients stuck into the end of the long list of chemical names…but that doesn't make it a 'natural' product!

These days, we all need to get the most in return for our dollars! Ensure that the products you buy offer true value in the form of the results that you want to see reflected in your mirror each day.
